Giovanni Albanese | Bari, 1955
Artista e regista, vive a Roma.
Laureato in Architettura, al Politecnico di Torino. È titolare della Cattedra di Decorazione all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma.
Nel 2011 è presente con l’opera “Costellazione” alla 54a Biennale di Venezia a Palazzo Bianchi Michiel con la Fondazione Pino Pascali. Nello stesso anno è presente con l’installazione “7 grandi canestri” nella zona rossa del centro storico de L’Aquila, ed esce nelle sale il suo film “Senza arte né parte” prodotto da Lumiere &C e Rai Cinema, distribuito da 01.
A dicembre/febbraio 2009/2010 ha realizzato l’installazione “Luci d’Artista” nel centro storico di Spoleto.
A giugno/luglio 2009 ha esposto al Chelsea Art Museum di New York.
Nel 2008 è finalista e Premio Acquisto al Premio Terna 01 per l’Arte Contemporanea.
Nel 2003 è uscito nelle sale il suo lungometraggio “A.A.A. Achille”, film scritto con Vincenzo Cerami, con musiche di Nicola Piovani, con cui ha vinto il Giffoni Film Festival.
Nel 2002 gli è stato assegnato il “Premio Pino Pascali per l’Arte Contemporanea”.
Nel 1996 è stato invitato alla XII Quadriennale Nazionale d’Arte di Roma.
Nel 1995 con “Sabbie mobili” vince il Premio come Migliore Opera Straniera alla “1° International Biennal of Kamnik”, Slovenia.
Now an artist and director, he lives in Rome.
He got his degree in Architecture from the Politecnico in Turin. He teaches decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
In 2011 he participated at the 54th Venice Biennale with “Costellazione” in the Palazzo Bianchi Michiel with the Foundation Pino Pascali. In the same year he was present in the red zone of the historic centre of L’Aquila with the installation “7 grandi canestri”, and his new film “Senza arte né parte” will be aired. The film is produced by Lumiere and Rai Cinema, and distributed by 01.
In December/February 2009/2010 he realized the installation “Luci d’artista” in Spoleto.
In June and July 2009 he has exhibited in Chelsea Art Museum of New York.
In 2008 he is among the finalists for the Terna Acquisition Award 01 for Contemporary Art.
In 2003 his feature film “A.A.A.Achille” was projected in cinemas and won the Giffoni Film Festival. The film was written together with Vincenzo Cerami, the sound track composed by Nicola Piovani.
In 2002 he was awarded the “Premio Pino Pascali per l’Arte Contemporanea”.
In 1996 he was invited to the XII Italian Quadrennial Exhibition of Art in Rome.
In 1995 he wins the award Best Foraign Work of the “1° International Biennal of Kamnik”, Slovenia.
