Christoph Weber |  Vienna 1974

 

 

Christoph Weber si è formato dapprima all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Lipsia, studiando Belle Arti e Fotografia, e successivamente studiando Arte concettuale all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Vienna. Nel 2002, ha continuato i suoi studi, questa volta come visiting student presso la Kunstakademie di Düsseldorf.

Weber realizza sculture e installazioni dall’effetto spartano e austero. Usa materiali industriali, come cemento, ferro e fibra di carbonio, adottando un approccio epistemologico nei confronti di concetti opposti come realtà e finzione, brutalità e fragilità, creazione e distruzione, per mostrare quanto sia sottile la linea che li separa.

Le esposizioni più recenti di Weber includono le personali alla Galerie Jocelyn Wolff di Parigi e ProjecteSD di Barcellona, e le collettive al Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'Archéologie de Besançon in Francia e all'Ibid Gallery di Los Angeles, dove ha anche presentato una mostra personale.

Christoph Weber first attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig, studying Fine Art and Photography and later studied Conceptual Art at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. In 2002, he continued his studies, this time as a visiting student at the the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.

Weber creates sculptural works and installations to spartan, austere effect. He uses industrial materials such as concrete, iron and carbon fiber to take an epistemological approach towards opposing concepts like reality and fiction, brutality and fragility, creation and destruction in order to showcase how thin the line is which separates them.

Weber’s most recent exhibitions include solo shows at Galerie Jocelyn Wolff in Paris and ProjecteSD in Barcelona, along with group shows at the Musée des Beaux-Arts et d’Archéologie de Besançon in France and the Ibid Gallery in Los Angeles, where he also had another solo show.
